Company Description:

Brown Bag Films® are an Academy Award®nominated animation studio producing 2D & 3D animation for an international market place. Owned and managed by animation directors Cathal Gaffney and Darragh O’Connell, Brown Bag Films have two main areas of business: Commercials and television production.

Brown Bag employ 30 full time staff and have a large pool of freelance staff available for any given production. To date, Brown Bag have produced 6 television series including the 52 episode pre-school series WHY? which has sold to more than 40 territories internationally and received North American Video distribution from MGM.

Their Academy Award® nominated short film, and subsequent series, Give Up Yer Aul Sins became the best-selling video in Ireland for 2002.

In 2005, Brown Bag completed work on a 26 X 11 minute Canadian Irish co-production on the 3D animation series INUK (Pop 6 for TV Ontario) and the 13 X 26min UK, CAN, IRL co-production SLIM PIG (Cheeky Productions for BBC). Brown Bag recently delivered 52 X 2min animation seires IM AN ANIMAL for RTE/IFB and was sold to Nickelodeon UK, RAI Italy and TV Ontario Canada.

In 2006 Brown Bag were commissioned by HIT Entertainment to begin production on a 26 x 5 minute animation series called Wobblyland and they are set to begin production on Crap Rap2 in early September.

Other TV series work includes Peig (7 X 4 min RTE), Aesop Fables (36 X 1 Min, RTE) Taxi (10 X 4 min RTE), Barstool (10 X 4 min RTE), Animated Tales of the World, (11 min S4C/RTE), Crap Rap (10 X 3 min RTE)

In commercial productions, Brown Bag have established a strong cliental in the Middle East and the US markets and at home in Ireland. Recent commercials work includes the Golden Vale Easy Singles, Coca Cola, Inversoft, The National Lottery and SKY News Holiday weather. Other commercial clients include Vodafone, Nikon, Aer Lingus, Glaxo SmithClyne, Lipton’s Tea and many others. We have also recently completed a video for Oasis called The Masterplan working in conjunction with Partizan in the UK.

Brown Bag have an in-house post production facility encompassing sound recording suites, a High Definition motion Graphic suite, and Offline and Online editing systems. This enables Brown Bag to produce all the work in-house and deliver to a broadcaster or client without any requirement to outsource it to a third party.

Brown Bag are actively developing a slate of projects including feature films, large format TV series and half hour TV specials. They are also currently working on a series of animated stings for Nickelodeon and a short film for Channel 4. Brown Bag are interested in co-producing large format animation series with other European animation studios.
