Company Description:

Magma Films is an independent production company developing and producing live-action TV movies, feature films, documentaries, comedy dramas, entertainment programming and animation series/features for an extensive range of broadcasters and distributers worldwide.

In both live-action and animation, Magma occupies a strong niche position in the marketplace for the creation of high concept programmes. The company is acknowledged for its ability to generate humorous, quirky ideas that rise above cultural sensibilities to appeal to international audiences. Magma also has a solid track record in delivering high quality programming on time and within budget.

Magma Films was set up in Ireland in 1994 by Ralph Christians, an established German producer who worked for German broadcasters before starting Magma Films in 1984 in Germany and Iceland. Magma now centres most of its activity in Galway, but also owns the film and TV production companies Ulysses in Hamburg and Belfast, Northern Ireland, and Pictorion Magma Animation in Hamburg.

Magma has a very strong team of creative writers, script editors and creative producers: Marteinn Thorisson, Mark B. Hodkinson, Armin Prediger, Richard Conroy, Ralph Christians, Linda O'Sullivan, Sally Ann O'Reilly, Moe Honan and Clodagh Freeman. Magma Films has become the centre of an international network of strong creative talent from different cultures, including scriptwriters, designers, script editors, producers, story-boarders, voice talent and directors.
