Company Description:
Rosg is a film and television production company founded in 1998 by Ciarán Ó Cofaigh and Darach Ó Scolaí with the aim of producing high quality films and programmes of cultural value. Ciarán Ó Cofaigh is an experienced producer/director, both in film and television. For film he has produced: "Cosa Nite" (washed feet) (1998) directed by Dearbhla Walsh and produced by Rosg for the Irish Film Board and TG4; "An Leabhar" (the book) (2000) directed by Robert Quinn and produced by Rosg for the Irish Film Board and TG4 (awarded The Frank Copplestone Award at the Celtic Film Festival in 2001); and "How it All Began", an animated short produced for The Irish Film Board and RTÉ. For television he has written, animated and directed the series "A Tale of Two Kitchens", a 26 X 5 minute animation series produced for RTÉ and the BBC; "Let's talk Sense" an animated programme produced for the National Health Promotion Unit, and other animated pieces.
He has produced the documentary "Leitirfraic" for RTÉ, as well as producing and co-directing the documentaries "Na Glúnta" and "Aoife" for TG4. Recent credits as Producer have been "Máirtín Ó Cadhain: Is Mise Stoc na Cille" (Readers under Fire), "Tómás Mac Eoin: Seó Aonair" (One Man Show) and "Liam Ó Flaithearta: Idir Dhá Teanga" (Islandman Abroad) three one-hour documentaries produced for TG4. Ciarán has also lectured in Television and Broadcasting in University College Galway.
As well as having written both "Cosa Nite" and "An Leabhar", his co-director, Darach Ó Scolaí is equally well-known as a writer and artist. Rosg is currently close to realisation of its long-held ambition to produce the first feature in the Irish language, "Caisleán Uí Néill", a historical feature written by Darach Ó Scolaí and set during the flight of the Gaelic Earls in 1607.
