Mental Pictures is a genre film production company focused on cinematic horror and stories that explore the darker side of life. Founded by Ali Doyle in 2025, the company was created to carve out space in the industry for a new wave of Irish genre storytellers willing to take bold, provocative and disruptive risks. With the tagline “Get the Mental Picture,” its mission is clear: to challenge expectations and deliver elevated, audience-driven horror that resonates both culturally and commercially.

Ali is a Puttnam Scholar, Screen Ireland Advanced Producers Course alum, EAVE Producers Workshop 2023 graduate, and the 2024 Irish participant of Inside Pictures. She has worked across development, financing, and production on a number of Ireland’s most distinctive films, including KNEECAP, Fréwaka, The Hole in the Ground, and Saipan, and previously gained international experience at Voltage Pictures in Los Angeles, where she developed a strong commercial instinct alongside her creative practice.

Mental Pictures champions Irish genre storytelling that is emotionally resonant, psychologically rich, and grounded in strong cinematic language. With a focus on horror, psychological thrillers, and dark drama, the company is building an active slate of projects designed to be both festival-driven and commercially ambitious, with a clear understanding of genre audiences and international markets.

Based in Boyle, Co. Roscommon, the company is committed to supporting emerging talent and developing regional production capacity, with a focus on creating opportunities outside traditional urban centres. Mental Pictures aims to build a new legacy for Irish genre filmmaking, one that is bold, distinctive, and internationally relevant.
