Expressions of Interest in HSE Factual Programming
RTÉ Factual invites ‘Expressions of Interest’ from suitably qualified companies to deliver a landmark four-part documentary series to the RTÉ One schedule in Spring, 2016. RTÉ has acquired rights to the BBC format “NHS IN A DAY” that will require a large amount of multi-camera and single camera production teams to shoot simultaneously in institutions around the country. The successful company will be expected to oversee all aspects of the production. This includes: negotiating access to individual institutions; research of key stories and contributors; identifying key storylines early on and ensuring that these are brought to air; hiring and management of a large number of single-camera and multi-camera teams; running multiple, concurrent edits; managing relationships with institutions and key contributors right up to transmission; delivering a standout series to the RTÉ One schedule.
To be considered for inclusion on a shortlist to tender, interested production companies
must submit a short document (2-3 pages) that outlines your company’s proven track record in delivering peak-time factual and formatted factual series into the RTÉ One schedule that:
- Had access to a national institution at its core.
- Demonstrated experience in the management of significant production resource facilities and budgets.
- Demonstrated experience in producing Factual series with episodes of 52 minutes duration.
- Had strong personal stories at its heart and in which a large number of contributors were willing to allow you film them in sensitive situations – where cameras usually aren’t allowed.
- Involved managing and directing a large number of crews who were shooting in multiple locations at the same time.
- Involved a fixed-rig, or multi-camera set-up.
- Involved managing multiple edits to deliver on time and without problem.
- Demonstrated your ability to deliver a top-quality series on a tightly-costed production budget.
Suitable companies, which are successful in this initial call for expressions of interest, will be invited to tender for the contract. We will only consider applications from companies whose experience meets all of the above criteria.

2. A current tax-clearance certificate.
3. A document clearly outlining how you meet each of the criteria above.
