The WRAP Commission has launched a new scheme for production location recce support, which covers eligible productions in Clare, Donegal, Galway city, Galway county, Mayo, Roscommon and/or Sligo.
About the New Location Recce Support Scheme
The WRAP Commission’s new location recce support scheme is a limited, competitive fund designed to assist producers and production companies with the costs of conducting location recces within the WRAP region. The purpose of the scheme is to encourage projects with the potential to shoot in the region by supporting the early-stage work of location scouting.
Level of Support: The fund will cover up to 50% of eligible location recce costs or a, specifically the professional fee for a recognised location scout, to a maximum grant value per award of €500. The location scout must be engaged on a freelance or contract basis and invoice directly to the production for recce days undertaken.
Eligibility: Applications are open to producers with projects (feature film, TV drama, limited series or factual) demonstrating genuine potential to undertake principal photography in the WRAP region. These can be Irish or international companies.
Competitive Process: Due to budget limitations, the scheme is highly competitive, and not all eligible projects can be supported. All decisions are final and dependent on available funding at the time of application.
Evaluation of WRAP Recce Support Applications
The likelihood of the project proceeding to production within the WRAP region.
The projected impact of the project in terms of regional employment, local spend, and skills development.
The degree to which the creative vision and script utilise/draw on the unique landscapes and locations of the WRAP region.
The demonstrated readiness and professionalism of the team, including the credited location scout.
Evidence of a detailed recce plan and motivation regarding locations of interest.
Grant awards are subject to documented expenditure and must be claimed by submitting a final invoice from the location scout, accompanied by a short recce report and summary of findings.
