RTÉ One is looking for submissions for post-wateshed Saturda nightsmusic show for the summer of 2021.
- Duration: 6 x 60 minute slot
- Budget: To a maximum of €120,000 per programme (inclusive of Format Fees, if applicable). (In exceptional circumstances budgets with a higher cost per hour may be considered. In such circumstances, Producers should supply details as to the background to the increased cost)

Music has always been a rich part of Irish life. It brings people together and is an essential way in which we continue to tell our stories of celebration, sorrow, love, loss, joy and much more. During the past year we have had very limited experience of live music and have come to rely on television, radio and online platforms even more for our music. They have provided points of connection for us and have given musicians an important channel to their audiences.
RTÉ Entertainment and Music are looking for proposals for a music show which is to be broadcast during the summer of 2021. This programme is intended to be transmitted in a prominent post watershed prime time slot on Saturdays on RTÉ One.
It is important that this show uses music to reach out to a broad audience. Producers should consider what elements will assist their proposed programmes to attract this audience – what musical talent should appear on the show, is there a format or theme which would encourage viewers to seek out this programme, should it be hosted by a musician or somebody who looks comfortable amongst musicians? This is an opportunity to use music and musical performers to make an impact on the television schedule.
Unfortunately producers must consider the prospect of no audiences due to Covid restrictions given our timeframe. Submissions should include your plan on how to make your production safe in the current Covid-19 pandemic.
