Wildlife / Natural History

RTÉ is seeking Wildlife/Natural proposals suitable for submission to the BAI in future rounds for RTÉ One.

Current series in production are:

  • Irelands Deep Atlantic, 3 by 52 min which explores the hidden world of the deep Atlantic and the amazing creatures that inhabit it.
  • Ireland in Four seasons, 4 x 52 min series exploring Ireland’s natural world over the course of one year and its four seasons. From wildlife to weather to blooming landscapes, from farming cycles to nature's ancient rhythms, each programme will weave together the magic of one season – three months of enormous transition sweeping across our island.
  • Last year’s Wild Cities, 4 x 52 min gave us an intriguing new insight into the lesser spotted experience of urban wildlife and introduced four promising presenters.  These series offer an authentic insight into their own particular world through authoritative presentation, first class wildlife filming, and   engaging characters.

RTÉ is now looking for new Blue Chip series proposals that feature Wildlife and the Natural world throughout the country as their touchstone. The priority for these commissions is to gain a fresh perspective on a world not previously featured in our schedules. They are open to a wide range of ideas, the more ambitious the better.

The series can be filmed over an extended period of time and utilise the latest in filming technology. They are open to putting some promising ideas into development.

Crime Series - RTÉ2

Budget range: €85,000- €90,000 per hour

Deadline: Friday 18th August 12 noon (Strict deadline)

RTÉ is interested in proposals featuring the world of crime for RTÉ2. Series that have worked in the past were The Guards, an observational series following Gardai in inner city Dublin, Young Dumb & Deadly which looked at the prevalence of violent crime among those in their twenties and Party Pills which looked at the phenomenon of online & street drug abuse.

RTÉ is seeking ideas for a RTÉ2 post-watershed series with the potential to return. They are keen on ideas in the crime and law and order territory and are open to how that is achieved. It could be presenter-led, an observational documentary or a contemporary true-crime series. Ideas should focus on the human stories behind the headlines. Experience and an understanding of the legal and ethical responsibilities in this area will be helpful.

RTÉ wants programmes that will play well with RTÉ2’s new broader demographic targets.

They are open to either one hours or half hours and the budget will be dependent on the complexity of the series.
